FreeSWITCH Cookbook Ideas - Submit Them ASAP!
Hello all, We are still collecting recipe ideas for the FreeSWITCH cookbook. We need your input if this thing is going to happen. Please visit http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/cookbook and add your ideas, or at least comment on what's there. Even random, incoherent input from the community is better than silence! :) We'd like to have a preliminary list of recipe groups (i.e. chapters) by the end of the conference call on Wednesday. Thanks everyone! -Michael
I see an entry for Google Talk but no Google Voice (GV). So far, the only SIP URI termination supported by GV is Gizmo5 (GV) to receive incoming calls on an ATA and/or PBX. There has been several scripts out there written to emulate a GV dialout to place an outbound call. Of particular interesting one is this http://www.pmarks.net/posted_links/google-voice-dialout.agi GV DialOut script written in Python. With the Asterisk bridge() function, this script is able to let Asterisk users to place a GV outbound call just by picking up a phone, dial, and talk (once the call has established). As seen http://freeswitch-users.2379917.n2.nabble.com/Asterisk-equivalent-Bridge-fun... here , I had tried to bring up a discussion on how to implement this GV DialOut script on FS. I am glad some experts here were able to point out how to use this script on FS. However, for a newbie like me, this will lead to nowhere sans some examples to show how to exploit the scripts with the given FS API. So, adding a section to the cookbook to show how to achieve this with the script may not be a bad idea. OTOH, someone has actually written a GV channel (chan_gv) driver for Asterisk. This lets Asterisk users easily place an outbound calls through a simple Asterisk dialplan. Perhaps, FS developers should consider to add some sorts of GV channel driver for FS. This way, there may be a section in the cookbook devoted just for this, too. ----- don't and stop are the ONLY two 4-letter words considered offensive to men, but not when used together. -- View this message in context: http://freeswitch-users.2379917.n2.nabble.com/FreeSWITCH-Cookbook-Ideas-Subm... Man, thats cool and all but isn't that "screen scraping"? What would be freaking awesome is some scripting tutorials that utilized the Google Data API's do perform various simple tasks.. * updating your google calender/task list. * checking to see how much money you've lost in the stock market via Google Finance Portfolio Data API * etc.. etc.. The thing that is really slowing me down is this.... So i setup FS and then started using FusionPBX to configure it and made a non complex auto attendant using the GUI. Now wanting to advance it further I find myself editing the script fusionpbx created manually, tweaking it. etc.. The issue is now more of a lack of programming skills, so some programming with FS stuff would be awesome. Lua,JavaScript, whatever.... just all focused on getting it done with FS. *Using other API's (Google Data API, SoftLayer API, etc..) within your scripts. *Handling different data types. *Retrieving/updating info from external databases, mysql, etc.. *Common programming mistakes, and how to avoid them, recommended reading, etc... I can go buy a book about JavaScript but it lacks practical examples of JavaScript being used with FS. So theirs my 2 cents.... Hopefully my random, incoherent input is useful. :-) Thanks, Brian M.
