FS upgrade succeeded but failed to recover voicemails
Hello all, i have a box that has been running for like 8 months now in production, its setup has been using a odbc in core. so i upgraded to a newer FS version, and honestly didnt know that it resets the config file to the defaults too,(without the odbc configurations). tried to reconnect the whole odbc thing. and it erased my old voicemail settings including ALL my users greetings and passwords. how can i prevent this from happening the next time i upgrade to newer versions? thanks
How did you upgrade it? Afaik it normally shouldn't overwrite the existing config. In future though it's probably a good idea to backup the config before an upgrade, just in case. Sent from my iPad On 26 Jun 2012, at 00:32, dingdong <freeswitch@zoho.com> wrote:

In any upgrade always backup your database and FS before upgrading so you can rollback if needed. In addition depending on your file setup there is a good chance the greetings and voicemails are still there just not in the database and could be re-inserted and work again. ~mitch On Mon, Jun 25, 2012 at 4:32 PM, dingdong <freeswitch@zoho.com> wrote:

mitch, id love to see where these greetings are usually saved and be able to re insert it,i may be paranoid but i think i can see a 100 or so people rather looking at me furiously and about to stab me to death as i also lost their saved voicemails :) ---- On Mon, 25 Jun 2012 18:38:17 -0700 Mitch Capper<mitch.capper@gmail.com> wrote ---- In any upgrade always backup your database and FS before upgrading so you can rollback if needed. Inside the freeswitch folder (/opt/freeswitch, /usr/local/freeswitch, etc) is: storage/voicemail/ etc. It doesn't have the meta-data of who the messages are from or when, but it does have the greetings and all the messages there. -Avi On Tue, Jun 26, 2012 at 4:44 AM, dingdong <freeswitch@zoho.com> wrote:

It does not delete anything. There is especially nothing that overwrites voicemail. We update like this constantly. You made some mistake somewhere. On Jun 26, 2012 5:40 PM, "Mitch Capper" <mitch.capper@gmail.com> wrote:
