Compiling for x64 on windows C++ 2008 Express
Hi all, I am realy banging my head trying to compile a working 64bit version using C++ 2008 Express. I can take the solution and compile it for debug on 32bit without any problems, there is however no way setting it to 64bit (debug/release) wich will compile. Does anyone have experience with it? Thanks, Mike
I've never tried the 64-bit build for VS2008, only for VS2010. Is there any reason you don't want to build using VS2010 - that's probably the easiest way to get things going. /Peter ________________________________________ Från: freeswitch-users-bounces@lists.freeswitch.org [freeswitch-users-bounces@lists.freeswitch.org] för Michael lutz [mytemike72@gmail.com] Skickat: den 15 februari 2012 20:11 Till: freeswitch-users@lists.freeswitch.org Ämne: [Freeswitch-users] Compiling for x64 on windows C++ 2008 Express Hi all, I am realy banging my head trying to compile a working 64bit version using C++ 2008 Express. Thanks Peter, So you say if I would use Visual Studio 2010 (not express) and use the 2010.sln it can compile without problems by setting compile options to 64bit? (release/debug?) In one of the earlyer versions I had problems getting it to compile at all on VS2010, thats why I switched back to 2008 express, no other particulair reason... Mike. Yes, that combination works perfectly. Jeff Lenk has done a great job fixing the VS2010 build, so it should work without problems now. I know there was a time when a lot of work was made to update the project files to VS2010, I guess it was during that time the problems existed. I use VS2010 for both 32- and 64-bit builds, and it works like a charm. /Peter ________________________________________ Från: freeswitch-users-bounces@lists.freeswitch.org [freeswitch-users-bounces@lists.freeswitch.org] för Michael lutz [mytemike72@gmail.com] Skickat: den 15 februari 2012 20:26 Till: FreeSWITCH Users Help Ämne: Re: [Freeswitch-users] Compiling for x64 on windows C++ 2008 Express Thanks Peter, So you say if I would use Visual Studio 2010 (not express) and use the 2010.sln it can compile without problems by setting compile options to 64bit? My understanding is that express only really support 32 bit builds. with that said there are some work arounds relating to installing the Windows SDK or something but I've never tried that. VS Pro and higher (both 2008 and 2010) works well. VS2010 builds get tested now on every commit. But 2008 also has lots of users testing it too. -- View this message in context: http://freeswitch-users.2379917.n2.nabble.com/Compiling-for-x64-on-windows-C... I don't ever think VS2008 express did state anything about x64 support. From what I vaugely remember any express editions didn't support anything other than 32-bit machines. You could however, try getting the Vista WDK and use that x64 compiler that comes with that Windows SDK, but you'll have to use the MSBuild system in that case.
