session, channels, calls
Hello all, i've been reading the wiki, book, and using some google foo in trying to understand what freeswitch considers sessions, calls, and channels. So far i've gathered a session is just a connection between FreeSWITCH and a protocol, but i haven't been able to figure out what a channel is considered and what a call is considered. I know this is probably super simple, but i havent been able to make the connection yet as to what they are. Thanks in advance. Anish
Hi Anish, I hope this short info can help you. 1. A call can be 2-legged (A-to-B) or just 1-legged (A-to-Freeswitch app like Echo) 2. Each leg has a channel 3. It becomes a "call" when A-channel and B-channel are bridged Re session? We need help here. /Nandy On Thu, Apr 17, 2014 at 6:00 PM, Anish Patel <anish.mailing.list@gmail.com>wrote:

Hi Nandy, Thanks! I actually also found a short blurb on the wiki that helped as well. A session would be a connection between freeswitch and something else with a certain protocol. ie freeswitch and a sip endpoint, and say freeswitch and an incoming "call" from a mod_dingaling. then we would have 2 sessions, 1 SIP and 1 XMPP/Jingle. I think they also create channels, and as you said when those 2 are bridged together it is now a call. if i have messed this up, please let me know. Thanks again Anish On Thu, Apr 17, 2014 at 8:16 PM, Nandy Dagondon <nandy1925@gmail.com> wrote:
