Hi, I am using the voicemail application. All the data related to voicemail is stored on a database host. Is it somehow possible to store the recoreded voicemail itself also on the database? Currently only the voicemail informations and the path to the voicemail file is within the database. I am appreciated for every hint. Best regards, Bernhard Suttner
Storing the actual voicemail in a database is bad idea... It leads to excessive jitter and overly excess DB hits... Use something like NFS to share the soundfiles across multiple platforms... Its far more efficient On 11/23/10 6:03 AM, "Bernhard Suttner" <bernhard.suttner@winet.ch> wrote:

Hi, well, it would be possible to store the file within the database and then grab the complete file to a file system before playing the file. This should fix the problem with the jitter. The point about the database access is maybe true. I asked this question, because I know that MySQL could be clustered. Currently I have not the newest and best knowledge about NFS and samba. E.g. is it possible to use a NFS/samba share with heartbeat like that: 2 machines with heartbeat and drbd which provide a NFS/samba share. FS on another machine does mount the NFS/samba share from the heartbeat machine. What happens on failover? I know that this is _really_ off-topic. Sorry for that (but maybe someone has a also an idea about that :-) Best regards, Bernhard -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- Von: freeswitch-users-bounces@lists.freeswitch.org [mailto:freeswitch-users-bounces@lists.freeswitch.org] Im Auftrag von Ken Rice Gesendet: Dienstag, 23. There are many file sync/replication mechanisms out there... Find one that works for you.... As far as writing the file out the HDD the streaming it back from the hdd why would you want to double Disk IO? (This is how an un-named platforms voicemail works when using DB storage and its prone to bad jitter and extreme disk loading) As far as NFS/SMB sharing, that is something you have to define for yourself there are plently of NAS/SAN based system that's allow for not only failover but have redundant 'storage processors' so in the event of a failure the secondary takes over and the client machines are none the wiser On 11/23/10 6:21 AM, "Bernhard Suttner" <bernhard.suttner@winet.ch> wrote:

Hi Ken, thanks for your explanation. The reason why I ask this question is, that we have many FS which share a single database to use FS like a "cluster". It would have been nice, to have a good and easy solution for the voicemail files. I think I have to play around with NFS/SMB to mount the share on all FS machines. Thanks a lot.
