Audio energy detection on a given channel
Hey guys, I would like to be able to detect the energy level of a given channel, much like happens in a conference, in order to detect mute calls. I could not find anything in the docs so I was wondering if there is something available that I might have missed. If that is indeed not available, is there anyone else in the list that would like the feature so we could possibly organize a bounty to have it done? Thanks for pointing me there Piotr, I was not aware of this feature. I think this could work for my use case, I'll play with it and let you know how it goes. Cheers Wes On Tue, Apr 11, 2017 at 6:12 PM Piotr Gregor <piotrek.gregor@gmail.com> wrote:

You might find rtp_timeout useful if you are trying to detect that a user hung up. Guillermo On Tue, Apr 11, 2017 at 6:27 PM, Wesley Akio <wesleyakio@tuntscorp.com> wrote:

The scenario is to detect hangup from the PSTN side, it sometimes takes up to 90 seconds for the call to drop and during that time we continue to receive RTP frames so rtp_timeout wont work. I'm looking into VAD as suggested by Piotr but that looks like a CPU concern so far. We get user indication that the call is mute so activating VAD mid call instead of having it for all calls would be the perfect solution. I'm preparing a scenario to test the TALK/NOTALK events to see how it goes. Wes On Tue, Apr 11, 2017 at 6:32 PM Guillermo Ruiz Camauer <grcamauer@gmail.com> wrote:

Hi Wesley, Other way to have this feature could be usage of DESA algorithm for amplitude (and therefore also the energy) estimation. It would be very similar to Avmd module. And this would be of very low CPU intensity of estimating the energy. cheers, Piotr
