Re: [Freeswitch-users] IAX outbound trunk and distortion
I'm gonna guess you're using the alaw codec and the far end is asterisk? /b On Sep 27, 2008, at 4:17 AM, Alex Kinch wrote:

I recorded a test call on xlite if you want a copy of the wav?

Far end is Asterisk, yep - codec debug line below: 2008-09-27 10:28:24 [INFO] mod_iax.c:399 iax_set_codec() Activate Codec PCMU/8000 20 ms Alex On 27 Sep 2008, at 10:20, Brian West wrote:

Can you tell me what part of the world the provider is in? /b On Sep 27, 2008, at 4:30 AM, Alex Kinch wrote:

Yep, that did the trick. Thanks Brian (and David too for putting in a way my Saturday hangover brain could understand!) :) Alex On 27 Sep 2008, at 10:41, Brian West wrote:
Try changing the codec to alaw and see if it goes away, If so then I suspect the direct ulaw/alaw transcoder in Asterisk is broken.

Looks like the alaw codec in Asterisk still uses the wrong table. Guess I should do a bug report on that to them. Can someone else confirm they see the same problem with the latest Asterisk versions? /b On Sep 27, 2008, at 4:51 AM, Alex Kinch wrote:

Hi Alex, That makes two of us in Blighty at least.. it sounds most likely that something's not converting properly from u-law to A-law somewhere. You might want to force A-law - set codec-prefs to PCMA (and nothing else) in iax.conf.xml Cheers -- Dave
