Hi. I am using mostly the default freeswitch configs, but I cannot seem to make flash work properly. I was dialing out from a freetdm extension over a freetdm fxo channel and got bridged to a number. Then I had another phone call into that same fxo line. I may be doing something wrong -- newbie that I am -- but I could not answer the second call -- I heard the call waiting noise, flashed the hook, which did get recognized, but how do I answer that call? If I were dialing out through sip, how would I do this in that case? Thanks in advance for any suggestions. -- Your life is like a penny. You're going to lose it. The question is: How do you spend it? John Covici covici@ccs.covici.com
Do you see anywhere that explicitly says that works? Because I'm pretty positive its not there just yet. /b On Sep 9, 2010, at 9:50 AM, covici@ccs.covici.com wrote:

No, but the flash event was in the logs, but what to do after that? Brian West <brian@freeswitch.org> wrote:

You have to enable call swapping.
-<param name="enable-analog-option" value="call-swap"/> Add that to the <settings> section of your freetdm.conf.xml Moises Silva Senior Software Engineer Sangoma Technologies Inc. | NEW 100 Renfrew Drive, Suite 100, Markham ON L3R 9R6 Canada t. 1 905 474 1990 x128 | e. moy@sangoma.com
It is already in there. What I want to know is if I am calling from a freetdm channel and I am using an outgoing freetdm channel as well, how to flash the fxo channel, so I can answer the call waiting call. A secondary note, shouldn't I get a different stutter dialtone when I flash the hook? Moises Silva <moises.silva@gmail.com> wrote:

Ignore my other email, I don't have it enabled. I guess this means my test was flawed. Is there anywhere this option is documented? The sample config seems to have: <!--<param name="enable-analog-option" value="call-swap"/>--> <!--<param name="enable-analog-option" value="3-way"/>--> What is the different between these two options? Does it hurt to set it globally (as per default), or does this mean flash is active for ports connected to my telephone provider too? I only want it enabled on ports that my telephones are connected too. -- Brian May <brian@microcomaustralia.com.au>

call-swap allows you to to swap between one call and another with each flash. Flash once and you will answer the incoming call, flash again and you get back to the original call and so on. 3-way is to put you in a conference with the 2 calls. Even if you don't have an incoming call, you can send a flash to place a second call yourself. Does it hurt to set it globally (as per default), or does this mean
flash is active for ports connected to my telephone provider too? I only want it enabled on ports that my telephones are connected too.
It does not hurt as long as you want it enabled for all your phones. If not, you can enable it per span. These options are meant for fxs ports (the ones where you connect your phones), there is no way an fxo port will receive a flash (that is, the telco/provider can't send you a flash). Now, if you are a good citizen (and I am sure you are) you will compensate my effort of writing this at 12:45am when I should be sleeping; and go ahead and document what I just said in the FreeSWITCH wiki (wiki.freeswitch.org), pleeeeeeease :-) Moises Silva Senior Software Engineer Sangoma Technologies Inc. | NEW 100 Renfrew Drive, Suite 100, Markham ON L3R 9R6 Canada t. 1 905 474 1990 x128 | e. moy@sangoma.com
But you should be able to flash the fxo from inside to pick up call waiting or to go to the other call. Moises Silva <moises.silva@gmail.com> wrote:

Sending flash from FreeSWITCH is not related to the options. Currently the way to send a flash is sending DTMF 'f' down the fxo line. And how do I send_dtmf down the fxo line? I don't see an api call called send_dtmf -- there is uuid_send_dtmf, that is all I found. Also, Thanks much. Moises Silva <moises.silva@gmail.com> wrote:

Right, uuid_send_dtmf is the API (command line) and send_dtmf is the dialplan app. -MC
OK, we are sort of getting there, but its still not working. The strange thing is if I am in the cli and type uuid_send_dtmf followed by the uuid of the bleg followed by F then it works -- mostly. However when I tried to put the same thing in the dial plan like this <action application="bind_meta_app" data="0 a s send_dtmf:: F"/> it seems to generate something which the other end of the conversation hears after playing the music on hold for a second, but does not do the flash. Have I done the wrong syntax or what else is going on? Michael Collins <msc@freeswitch.org> wrote:

Try o instead of s to run the app on the opposite leg instead of the same. Double check the syntax I am not in front of an example.
