I have three freeswitches running on public IPs, not behind a router. There was a power hit on site and all servers were restarted but none of the freeswitches started, when I tried to manually start them, I got a segmentation fault. I had to rename core.db on each system to get them to restart. Is this a known issue. One of these switches had a git update 1 week ago, the other two are various vintages but run flawless, until last night of course. The longest running one is about 14 months. Any input or thoughts would be appreciated. Darcy
sounds like the core.db was corrupted in a way that caused the segfault... it is safe to delete that file at any time... if you have core dumps where you can get a back trace, do so and as per the bug reporting guide lines on the wiki and open a jura especially if they are all segueing int he same spot K On Tue, Feb 14, 2012 at 10:05 AM, Darcy <darcy@primrose.ws> wrote:

Hard to know cos you need to get a backtrace of the crash to be able to identify it. But like ken said, if the db was possibly corrupted and sqlite causes the crash then there is little we can do besides what you already did. On Tue, Feb 14, 2012 at 10:05 AM, Darcy <darcy@primrose.ws> wrote:

That is fine, we are now aware of how to correct the issue, I thank both of you for taking time to reply. One last question regarding this, after restart, I noticed the registrations were awry, only 1 registration at a time, each new one replaced the existing one, so we deleted all the db files and restarted freeswitch again, corrected the problem. I noticed sofia_reg_internal was over 2.7 meg, but now that it is restarted it is only 82kb, should these be flushed on a regular basis, say for example, once a week, stop the freeswitch remove the db files, restart the freeswitch, it could of course be scheduled in crontab. This switch only has 8 registrations, we many use it as a sip tandem (acl authentication). Darcy, Freeswitch uses sqlite for it's database and doesn't compact the database at all and they will keep growing. If you wanted to shrink the db down, you could do a "VACUUM" from the sqlite command line. Personally, I just delete the db files when I restart freeswitch, and keep everything on a 100 meg ram disk.
