mod_com_r729: DECODER CREATE FAILED when receiving calls
hi i'm expiriencing problems with mod_com_g729 since lately. i'm using the git version ("make current" method) on debian lenny amd64. mod_com_g729 is from fsg729-139-installer. i've bought 1 license (just me useing/testing the freeswitch server right now). situation 1: Ext 1001 (Sipdroid on Android with Speex codec) calls Ext 1000 (Siemens C470 with G.729b): audio is choppy and I see many loglines like this: 2010-07-30 11:36:56.307813 [ERR] mod_com_g729.c:142 DECODER CREATE FAILED - 0xa432a0 (nil) while the connection is active: freeswitch@internal> g729_status Permitted G.729AB channels: 1 Encoders in use: 1 Decoders in use: 1 same choppy sound if someone is calling from external via sip trunk (sipcall.ch). situation 2: Ext 1000 (Siemens C470 with G.729b) calls Ext 1001 (Sipdroid on Android, PCMU choosen) -> audio is ok Ext 1000 (Siemens C470 with G.729b) calls external party -> audio is ok Seems that just receiving calls makes problems. - Thomas
I'm going to guess that the license server isn't running or you're trying to record the call also? /b On Jul 30, 2010, at 5:04 AM, Thomas Mueller wrote:

same choppy sound if someone is calling from external via sip trunk (sipcall.ch).

hi brian

/b license server is running.
# ps axu | grep freeswitch 107 16352 0.0 0.5 17704 1352 ? Ss 11:22 0:00 freeswitch_licence_server 107 16707 14.5 8.6 334104 22028 ? Sl 12:25 25:28 /opt/freeswitch/bin/freeswitch -nc as calls originating from G.729b are OK, doesn't this imply the license server is working? also g729_status is working (sample in my last message). IMHO i'm not recording a call. or does the default setup record calls without user intervention? - Thomas

Without a full log of the call i'm only guessing. Things like tone detectors or any media bugs will use a license till its done. I suspect you're running out. /b On Jul 30, 2010, at 8:31 AM, Thomas Mueller wrote:

ok, i've upgraded to 10 licenses. a single incoming call "whatever codec" to "G.729b" with the example setup provided seems to use 3 licenses througout the call: freeswitch@internal> g729_status Permitted G.729AB channels: 10 Encoders in use: 1 Decoders in use: 3 whereas a outgoing call "G.729b" to "whatever codec" uses just one: freeswitch@internal> g729_status Permitted G.729AB channels: 10 Encoders in use: 1 Decoders in use: 1 i'm going to try to find the consumers in the debug log. :) - Thomas

i'm going to try to find the consumers in the debug log. :) thanks to dirdiff i found out what actually the cause is: multiple registrations. i've enabled it and there were 3 phones registred.
