Wanting to move to FreeSwitch from another switch, I was wondering if FreeSwitch has support for the Digium based PRI cards. I checked the archives, but did not find information. Thank You Tom Chandler
Use the OpenVox card. They are better and less expensive. _____ From: freeswitch-users-bounces@lists.freeswitch.org [mailto:freeswitch-users-bounces@lists.freeswitch.org] On Behalf Of Tom Chandler Sent: Friday, March 16, 2007 9:48 AM To: freeswitch-users@lists.freeswitch.org Subject: [Freeswitch-users] PRI cards Wanting to move to FreeSwitch from another switch, I was wondering if FreeSwitch has support for the Digium based PRI cards. Ok guys Let me set the record straight for this question. We can't use zaptel because its GPL and is incompatible with our MPL license. That being said its not possible for us to legally link the two products together. It is however fine for an end user to do so. Read this http://linuxgazette.net/120/smith.html Just an FYI zapata used in that example is in the public domain. /b On Mar 18, 2007, at 9:48 PM, Alex Chan wrote:

Brian, Thanks for helping us understand the GPL vs. MPL nonsense. Question: is there any scenario out there where people stuck with non-Sangoma telephony cards can use them with Freeswitch? I've got two 4-port T1 cards and I'd love to test drive FreeSwitch on the PSTN with one of them. (They are much-improved clones of the Tor2 card: http://phoniceq.com/index-3.html - T400P) Perhaps I could ask the question a different way: is there a perfect-world scenario where FreeSwitch could support Zaptel-compatible cards without violating the MPL? If so, what would need to happen? Thanks for patiently answering all of these questions. BTW, you and Anthony are doing an awesome job on FS. Please keep up the good work! -MC
Question: is There any scenario out there where people stuck with non-Sangoma telephony cards can use them with Freeswitch? The GPL has a clause in it that makes it incompatible to the MPL. It is the clause that makes the GPL viral in nature when code is distributed with GPL code in it. Then that code must also be GPL. I applaud the FreeSwitch developers licensing this project under the MPL rather than the more restrictive GPL. Your Options: 1. This one has already been mentioned... You could hire someone to add the compatibility for you. 2. Install your card in an asterisk machine and setup some SIP trunks that you can use with FreeSwitch. 3. Sell your card on Ebay and buy a card such as Sangoma that is already compatible with FreeSwitch. 4. Convince your card manufacturer to make drivers for FreeSwitch. Option 2 and 3 are likely faster, easier, and cheaper. Mark --- Michael Collins <mcollins@fcnetwork.com> wrote:

Hi, is there an easy way to switch CNG on/off for one call and/or as default? I found nothing in Wiki :( Thanks in advance, Thomas
Is there really no simple way? I know some SIP/ISDN gateways, there is always an option for this... -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- Von: freeswitch-users-bounces@lists.freeswitch.org [mailto:freeswitch-users-bounces@lists.freeswitch.org] Im Auftrag von Sluschny, Thomas Gesendet: Dienstag, 20. There are no configuration options for this at this time. I would prefer better detection where the specs provide to turn it on and off, and configuration options to override the detection. Patches along this line would be welcome. Mike
