Mike, I copied the status screen from the freeswitch package in the web setup. I you need a console view, I will need instructions on how to console into pfsense, Since I have never done that. Hey Orien,
OK, let's have a look here. How about going to the console of your FS and posting the output of the following commands:
sofia status profile internal sofia status profile external
We'll take it from there. Your problems are just like what I ran into initially, so I'm hopeful we get round them.

Mike, Thank you for your quick response, this has been driving me nuts.
in my third attempt I tried to follow the mulit home example. I did set the phones to register to the local lan IP. actually had them registering, but it did help it in any way still the same problem. After my post I reinstalled the package and set the firewall to allow phones on the wan to connect, as per http://doc.pfsense.org/index.php/FreeSWITCH#Firewall put my computer with the soft phone on the wan network (192,168.2.xxx) had it registering and it had the same problem. so far all the setups I have tried are not working, the phones register, but cannot dial/connect another phone, also does not go to voice mail, maybe it is in my dial plan. which is default.
Shoot, I am not picky, I just want to get it to work. so any suggestions on how to accomplish this are greatly appreciated.
My phones are currently a couple of polycom 601's, and a Pangolin Softphone.
Thanks Orien L.
Hey Orien, pfsense has a nice interface, but I only use it for adding the FS package, maybe messing with LAN and WAN addresses. Using the "command line" helped me to better understand what FS was doing and how. Pfsense just made it easier to have an OS and really good firewall married to FS without me needing to do a lot of work. In my pfsense installs, I didn't need to add any firewall rules to allow SIP ports "right of way", the pfsense folks had taken care of that detail. One way to talk "direct" to FS on pfsense is to use the console of the FreeBSD box you have pfsense installed on. Login as root. You'll get a character screen with options 1-12 (I believe). SSHing in gets you the same interface options. Hit option 8 and you'll go to a shell. I'm assuming you can get around in Linux or Unix (If not, tell me). "ps aux | grep free" and kill the PID for FS (pfsense runs FS in the background) Then, invoke FS with /usr/local/freeswitch/bin/freeswitch. Now, you're talking direct to FS in the foreground, and it is talking to you. After starting FS, hit "enter" if there's stuff on the screen - which there will be - and you'll see the FS prompt. Try the sofia commands. If you are still configured with: WAN: 192.168.2.210 LAN: 192.168.3.1 Phones on network 192.168.3.0/24 ...then make sure you follow the multi-home wiki instructions in section 4. I'd include that here, but its better formatted there. I've updated it last week so have another look if you've not seen it lately. http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Multi_home_tutorial Also, make sure you understand section 3, the FS COMMANDS FOR STARTERS and WHERE STUFF IS FOR STARTERS. It'll help. Following those instructions, unless there's some other issue, will allow for phones on the LAN to talk to one another. Its a start. If it does not, we'll take it from there. You've mentioned this twice, now, but a better way to do it is to _not_ stop FreeSwitch. Instead, run /usr/local/freeswitch/bin/fs_cli, which connects to FS, and then you can do everything that you can do directly in FS. When you are done, enter "\quit" or "\bye" or "\exit". See "\help" and "help" for more information. -- Russell Mosemann

Yup, I got the slashes wrong, and I was staring right at the commands when I wrote the message. I'll blame it on how late it is here. :-) It should be "/quit", "/bye", "/exit" and "/help". -- Russell Mosemann

ctrl-d is also recognized and it's easier to type.
I didn't know that. Thanks Russell.
