I have problems connecting to irc chat. I disconnected yesterday, and trying to connect today, but can't log in. What has happened? Ivan
Me too. I keep getting "you need to be identified to join that channel". Until now, I thought it was an issue on my end and I have spent probably 3 hours going through firewalls, routers, rebooting, upgrades, etc to try to get it to work. Ivan C Myrvold wrote:

Freenode uses an account (identification) server to prevent spamming and abuse. Channel operators can specify that you have to be registered with the account server (/msg nickserv help) to be able to join a channel. On Jan 1, 2008 12:01 AM, Peder @ NetworkOblivion <peder@networkoblivion.com> wrote:

Just do "/msg nickserv register insertpasswordhere" Then you need to identify every time you get on IRC by doing "/msg nickserv identify insertpasswordhere" This also ensures you don't have people taking your nick. /b On Dec 31, 2007, at 5:05 PM, Jonas Gauffin wrote:

Colloquy is bad about making it looked like you joined a channel that is +r even if you really didn¹t join... Make sure you either register and identify to nickserv before you join the channel or you can try using your nickserv password as the server password (sometimes this works w/ colloquy) Colloquy had some other issues that really ticked me off regularly so I switched to using xchat aqua most of the time which you can get from sf.net K From: jonathan augenstine <jaugenstine@gmail.com> Reply-To: <freeswitch-users@lists.freeswitch.org> Date: Tue, 1 Jan 2008 10:26:13 -0800 To: <freeswitch-users@lists.freeswitch.org> Subject: Re: [Freeswitch-users] irc chat I have been using Colloquy on OSX and I started having problems a few days ago also.
