I have been trying to use codec2 with freeswitch as an effort to optimize call quality on mobile customers. I have been getting mixed results. Most of the times audio is just garbled and not understandable. Has anyone else used it or better yet using it to share experience?
Daniel, Bear in mind for mobile you're in an environment where you can have heavy packet loss, latency and jitter. All three on their own can give severe audio quality problems. Do a packet capture of the media you're receiving and see if any of those look to be the issue. If bandwidth is an issue one thing you can try is increasing the ptime. More time is in a packet so you lose more if a packet drops, but there's also less overhead from the data layer/UDP/RTP headers. -Steve On 16 July 2013 17:55, Brian West <brian@freeswitch.org> wrote:
This would be th last codec to use if 'optimize call quality' is your goal.
ilbc or gsm would be much better.

however, there is a new version of codec2 that we should probably add to tree. On Tue, Jul 16, 2013 at 1:56 PM, Steven Ayre <steveayre@gmail.com> wrote:
