Hi all, Does call quality improve when ptime is shortened? I have seen posts saying 40ms resulted in choppy audio. Clearly FS likes 0.020. I am trying to decide if I should go through and update my Cisco and Linksys devices to use 0.020. Thanks, Sean
Increasing ptime will increase delay in voice, but decrease system and network load. And vice versa. Dmitry. 2013/4/23 Sean Devoy <sdevoy@bizfocused.com>

However: Based on what I read in the other post. If you are seeing the error in FS that says "do not support async ptime" This means the device has a long standing bug where that .030 setting only changes what it says in the sdp and doesn't actually change the size of the packets so FS has to auto adjust down to 20 anyway so in this case you for sure want to set them all to .020 This bug goes back almost a decade to the sipura code that linksys then cisco inherited. Smaller PTIME: Less latency, more robust with dropped packets, more CPU time. Larger PTIME: More latency, less robust with dropped packets, less CPU time. On Tue, Apr 23, 2013 at 10:53 AM, Sean Devoy <sdevoy@bizfocused.com> wrote:
