collecting stats on RTMP calls
Hi, I'm using FreeSWITCH 1.5.x as config'd in BigBlueButton 0.81. I need to find a way to measure useful stats on latency, dropped connects/packets. I have no current need to worry about scale. I'm only trying to find settings for decent voice quality. I've installed voipmonitor (w/o web gui) and so far haven't figured out how to get it to capture the call data. It looks like voipmonitor is running, the mysql db has the schema but no data when I'm running a call. Is there some FreeSWITCH module in need to get it work with voipmonitor? Any ideas appreciated. thanks, Jon
Voipmonitor only supports SIP and RTP so you can't use it on the streams from end points but it might be useful on the streams from the red5 sip interface to Freeswitch (which is standard SIP and RTP). On Wednesday, November 20, 2013, Jon Hancock wrote:

Thanks Kristian. I am not knowledgeable of how Red5 and FreeSWITCH work together. The docs don't shed much light on this. All I really need is a way to gather meaningful data on VoIP as BigBlueButton is doing it so I can try experiments to improve quality and have objective data to go alongside the subjective. I'm quite frustrated that I can't seem to find some log option that shows me latency and dropped connect info. Where should I turn? thanks, Jon On Thu, Nov 21, 2013 at 4:59 PM, Kristian Kielhofner <kris@kriskinc.com>wrote:

No problem. Each BBB server has a local FreeSWITCH and red5 instance. You may be able to use voipmonitor on the BBB server to monitor the SIP and RTP between red5 and FreeSWITCH but I'm not sure that's going to tell you much.
