Following another thread here, I thought I would have a go at 1.4 on Ubuntu 14.04 (64 bit). I now have it installed, but before I install my own application, I thought I'd look around to find a list of changes to look out for - particularly in the config files (my application includes some freeswitch config files, based on those that came with 1.2). Couldn't quickly find an appropriate resource - anyone got any suggestions?
...and is it possible to get the install to use Lua 5.1? On 08/09/2014 09:32, Alex Lake wrote:

The main visible difference is mod_spidermonkey is replaced by mod_v8, and there are differences in between them so javascript scripts may require updating. Otherwise there shouldn't be many noticeable changes. It'll use more system libraries than before, but that shouldn't affect behaviour. OK - I noticed last time I tried 1.4 a while back that some calls had been deprecated - from memory, seemed to be more about minor changes in how things were spelt out! But I'll go for it and see. As mentioned in my other post, finding Lua 5.2 versions of the libraries that I use is the biggest challenge so far. On 08/09/2014 11:50, Steven Ayre wrote:

Some of the odbc dsn parameters and sip_ variables possibly yes. That might affect some upgrades with 1.2 too. There's https://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Release_Notes - but it's not necessarily a complete list. I suggest you build a sandbox machine and test the upgrade there before rolling out in production. I don't use Lua much - only the builtin stuff and freeswitch.Dbh (not luasql) On 8 September 2014 11:57, Alex Lake <alex@digitalmail.com> wrote:

Now got all the bits working. A slightly roundabout route - so will probably need to rebuild from scratch to check that it's repeatable. I didn't use luarocks, as the 5.1/5.2 confusion was doing my head in! But these things seem to be eminently compilable from source.
