Hello. This questions is not specific to FS but to all the SIP Gateways. We currently work with several Voice Providers , including the big carriers BT , etc and this situation happens from time to time and some more frequently then other. We call phone A , the person answers and presses some keys and voila RTP Events Received , all goes well. We disconnect and call that exact phone and DTMF is not working anymore ,... We disconnect the call from another provider and we have again the DTMF Tones. Now we try another carrier and the same situation happens . Do anyone of you guys have anything to say on this a best practice , should i use RFC2833 and in band at the same time trying to catch any missing tones ? Regards Antonio Teixeira

Yes but i can deal with duplicated digits since the scripts will detected double digits :) Let's say i can survive with that :) 2011/10/24 Steven Ayre <steveayre@gmail.com>

Yes, how do you plan the difference between the user dialling 2 and it being duplicated and them pressing 2 twice in quick succession? Steve on iPhone On 24 Oct 2011, at 16:28, Hynek Cihlar <hynek.cihlar@gmail.com> wrote:

Well guys it depends on your application , generally i solve this with regexp , a buffer and a way to clear the buffer of invalid/duplicated data I'm extending it to support with min delay between keys. This is not as hard as you think when using min/max :) and your data is predictable :) Also in ivr menus humans don't generally guess whats the next menu so if len(dtmf) > 1: drop ... I play with this in our test environment not in our production and it works :) 2011/10/24 Steven Ayre <steveayre@gmail.com>

Well guys it depends on your application , generally i solve this with regexp , a buffer and a way to clear the buffer of invalid/duplicated data I'm extending it to support with min delay between keys. This is not as hard as you think when using min/max :) and your data is predictable :) Is a properly engineered solution so unattainable that such guesswork is the only solution?
Also in ivr menus humans don't generally guess whats the next menu so if len(dtmf) > 1: drop ...
I play with this in our test environment not in our production and it works :) Try playing with real users. They *always* type ahead by their second or third call to the same IVR. Handling type-ahead well - accepting the string of entered digits, skipping the playback of prompts so you don't slow things down, etc. - is one of the key tests of a good IVR.

Ok but in our case its not the case anyway , people don't like to comeback to our ivr's .... So regarding the initial topic getting DTMF/RTP Events from the main trunk :) 2011/10/25 Steve Underwood <steveu@coppice.org>

I'm guilty of this. Hate sitting through a long message that I already know word for word. Steve on iPhone On 25 Oct 2011, at 02:01, Steve Underwood <steveu@coppice.org> wrote:
