Unregistering Phones When FS Is Manually Shut Down
I noticed that FS does not send REGISTER expires 0 messages to registered endpoints when the Freeswitch process is shutdown for occasional maintenance. However, I did notice it sends SUBSCRIBE expires 0 to all presence subscribers. Is there a flag to cause it to send the REGISTER expires 0 in this case? Best Regards, Jerry
Jerry, Did you see this in a RFC somewhere? I couldn't find anything stating that the registrar itself should send out a register like this. I do see that FS correctly sends out the register w/ exp 0 secs to other servers to which it itself has registered. -MC On Mon, Feb 27, 2012 at 8:34 AM, Jerry Richards <jerry.richards@teotech.com>wrote:

I don¹t know if this is part of the spec, but I¹m pretty sure we don¹t have this functionality at this time in FreeSWITCH... There may be a way to do that in libsofia, but we¹d probably have to root around to find it and then expose it into mod_sofia... (anyone familiar with sofia feel free to contradict me here) K On 2/27/12 4:49 PM, "Michael Collins" <msc@freeswitch.org> wrote:

MC, No, I don't think there is an RFC for this. I just noticed FS does it for presence subscriptions but does not do it for registrations. I just had a question on why the behavior is different. I do not necessarily have a problem with this current behavior. However, if FS is shutdown for an extended period of time (e.g. more than 1 hour), I think it will have stale rows in the sip_registration table. I'm not sure what would happen in this case when it starts up again. Do you mean it sends notifies to cancel subscriptions? That it can get away with. On Mon, Feb 27, 2012 at 5:08 PM, Jerry Richards <jerry.richards@teotech.com> wrote:
