World Record with Freeswitch
I thought you might be interested to know that this: http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-wales-33031520 ... involved Freeswitch between Chrome and a Comrex Bric. :) Cheers! P.S.: A video of the transmission is here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p02t3b36?ns_mchannel=social&ns_campaign=bbc_...
Is there more documentation on exactly how this took place? Sent from my iPhone

"Exactly"? - no. :-) Those left at home made a Storify for it, but it doesn't have much tech info: https://storify.com/inquality/world-record-attempt-using-ipdtl ... Basically it went from Chrome (ipdtl.com) to a Freeswitch installation in the US, because the direct path to the UK was riddled with packet loss, and from there to a Comrex Bric in Wales. Freeswitch was important, because it allowed us to influence the path and to remove Chrome's DTLS encryption, so the Comrex could work with it. The location in Patagonia was a private home with a consumer 512/2048kbit DSL uplink, the audio was 64kbit/s Opus mono. They used a "click track" to sync the singers. We were playing a CD with the clicks in Patagonia and everyone joined in on the 12th click. Quite low tech. :-) Disclaimer: I'm not with the BBC. I was there for In:Quality / ipDTL. wait a sec, you were sending sync clicks from Patagonia, so the singers in Wales received them 0.5 sec later, and their sound arrives to you with 1 second delay. Or were you recording in Wales and Patagonia, and later mixing in a studio? But that would be a cheating :) On Mon, Jun 8, 2015 at 4:57 PM, Thomas <lists@virtues.net> wrote:

The use of the click track was to sync the singers. This is a common recording method. The click track is one of the reasons when you see video of people recording in the studio, they all have headsets on. So if they have a click track originating at the furthest point for the duet it allows both singers to be recorded in sync on the other end. yes, I would also place the ticker source in a location equally distant from singing locations, but Thomas mentioned it was played from Patagonia. So, the singers in Patagonia had to receive it from Wales, together with Wales' orchestra and singers? On Tue, Jun 9, 2015 at 12:36 AM, Ken Rice <krice@freeswitch.org> wrote:
