URGENT HELP! Customers cant make any calls -after MAKE CURRENT
Hi All, I do truly hope someone responds before morning when my customers get back to work. I did a make current and it went swell! I rebooted, everything registered, looked great - BUT . Everything everyone dials gets codec mismatches and then [INCOMPATIBLE_DESTINATION] The codecs look like this: 2013-04-22 23:42:02.138488 [DEBUG] switch_core_media.c:2597 Audio Codec Compare [PCMU:0:8000:30:64000]/[PCMU:0:8000:20:64000] But I don't know how to set that parameter in in FS or on the devices! Any help greatly appreciated. Sean
That's a PCMU ptime parameter. It looks like your clients are now sending with a ptime of 30, where FS is expecting a ptime of 20. This isn't something that would have changed in FS as far as I know. FS should still default to a PCMU ptime of 20. It's likely your clients are no longer sending an option for ptime of 20. Do you have a sip trace? Let me know if you need more assistance. I'm not so sure about that. There was another thread on this list a few days ago where someone also was having problems due to ptime. They showed a log file from an older version of FS and a newer one. The older version switched from the expected ptime to the one FS was requesting while the newer version ignored that codec option. It did look like a behaviour change. -Steve On 23 April 2013 04:57, William King <william.king@quentustech.com> wrote:

That is absolutely correct Steven. When I restored my backup, I get a line that says "Asynchronous ptime is not supported, changing our end to xx" It is absolutely a FS issue. I have got to get back to the stable branch. I am sorry, I dont know what that means or how to check. Nor do I know how to find my codec vars. It seems to me I used to see a message that said Asynch ptime not allowed changing our end to 20 (or 30) Anyway, please tell me how to find out if transcoding is disabled and if I want it to be. I didnt want to change anything just get a bug fix for dtmf error. Thank GOD for backups - never forget Jesus saves (and does backups regularly)! NEVERMIND - I am back to where I started. I would very much like to know the commands to get me over to the stable branch.
In the root directory of your copy of the git repo, you can do the following: git branch -a <-- this will list out all the available branches git checkout name_of_branch <-- this will set you to the most recent commit to the given branch. You can also specify the specific hash for a given commit as well here too. Please note that I personally *never* use make current, and instead make a completely new build every time I compile. But that's just me... YMMV... -Yossi On 04/23/2013 12:11 AM, Sean Devoy wrote:

Checkout stable branch and follow those instructions (git checkout v1.2.stable - - http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Installation_Guide#Selecting_version) Then clean up your build area by following: http://wiki.freeswitch.org/wiki/Installation_Guide#Reverting_to_an_Earlier_C... A best practice guide on the wiki for backing up the old install would be helpful... -Avi On Tue, Apr 23, 2013 at 8:56 AM, Yossi Neiman <mishehu@freeswitch.org>wrote:

Hi Sean, If this is an urgent production impacting issue, then you could purchase a support contract or purchase one off support consultancy with the FS developers ( consulting@freeswitch.org ) Perhaps you could look into implement some sort of staging/testing environment where you can test changes before pushing them to production, to avoid this happening in future?? Ha, Sergey where were you at midnight last night? I now understand the issue, and even what ptime is, and your fix would have worked perfectly. Linksys and Cisco devices all seem to default to RTP Packet Size: 0.030 and FS defaults to 0.020 (20ms). The difference is that the current head does not automatically adjust so I needed to specify the 30ms Codecs in defaults. The codecs are loaded, just not identified as valid defaults. Sorry Dmitry. I probably did, but 10 hours ago I didn't understand what ptime was or how to add more default codecs. It's not just that I didn't understand the problem, I didn't understand how to do the fixes that were proposed. I do certainly appreciate you help. There are so many new things for me in SIP/FS/VOIP, I am learning though. Thanks for your patients. Sean From: freeswitch-users-bounces@lists.freeswitch.org [mailto:freeswitch-users-bounces@lists.freeswitch.org] On Behalf Of Dmitry Lysenko Sent: Tuesday, April 23, 2013 11:49 AM To: FreeSWITCH Users Help Subject: Re: [Freeswitch-users] URGENT HELP! Customers cant make any calls -after MAKE CURRENT Sean, I posted message about this workaround 10 hours ago. You didn't see it? Dmitry. 2013/4/23 Sean Devoy <sdevoy@bizfocused.com> Ha, Sergey where were you at midnight last night? I now understand the issue, and even what ptime is, and your fix would have worked perfectly. Linksys and Cisco devices all seem to default to RTP Packet Size: 0.030 and FS defaults to 0.020 (20ms). The difference is that the current head does not automatically adjust so I needed to specify the 30ms Codecs in defaults. The codecs are loaded, just not identified as valid defaults. Welcome to telephony! Glad to hear that you learned about ptime and a few other tricks. There are plenty of new things to learn when it comes to VoIP and FreeSWITCH. Keep up the good work. -MC P.S. - you'd better get a sandbox/test server if you're going to be putting 1.5.x into production.
