Hi list, I'd like to be able to remove the caller_id_name when sending a call to my Grandstream HT503, because it makes it hard for me to manage in my analog phone directory. It can be changed easily using "effective_caller_id_name", but setting it to empty string doesn't work. Apparently, setting "effective_caller_id_name" to "_undef_" could be an option, but it only removes it in the "From" field, and not from the PAI or RPID headers. My current workaround is to do that and set sip_cid_type to none, so the Grandstream fetches the CID in the From header. Is there any other way to set it to empty string that I might have missed? Thanks, François.
Hi, This is exactly my finding... http://lists.freeswitch.org/pipermail/freeswitch-users/2012-February/080733.... Never got a reply to this, anybody knowing this? Steven.

I think _undef_ was made to completely remove the CID in the From field (for dev interop reasons?), rather that setting it to an empty string which would be the "right" thing to do in that case. But if you try to do: <action application="set" data="effective_caller_id_name="/> It actually "unsets" the variable instead of setting it to an empty string. We might need some other way to be able to set it to "". François. On Wed, 2012-02-29 at 15:12 +0000, Steven Lam, KeenSystems B.V. wrote:

See: http://jira.freeswitch.org/browse/FS-942 Anthony mentions that the "right way" would be to set it to "" (I don't think it's possible right now), or "unknown". I'll try the "unknown" method tonight. François. On Wed, 2012-02-29 at 16:22 +0100, François Delawarde wrote:

Yeah, my analog phone has that function to be able to add the last CID to its directory, but it uses the caller_id_name as contact name and caller_id_number as contact number. Each time I want to add someone that called me to the phone's directory, I have to delete the preset contact name and add what I want. It's a pain for lazy people like me. François.
