Is FreeSwitch run on Windows 2008 R2 64?
Hi, I am trying to load freeswitch on to Windows 2008 R2 64 bit server but so far I can not get any windows versions of freeswitch to work on this os (latest 32 bits and 64 bits version from freeswitch web site). It give error message saying that it could not load the ..v8.dll and another dll file within the switch_loadable_module.c. Is Freeswitch not compatible to win2008R2 or am I missing something? Cheers, Albert

I would not recommend using any express editions if you really want to get the best performance out of a server platform unless you're willing to go through all the hoops to install the x64 compilers from the Windows SDK. Most modules should build just fine on Windows, post a startup log on which components failed to load. And no, FreeSWITCH works just as fine as any other Linux platform does currently. Is the only problem that it reports loading errors for a couple of modules? FS should run just fine on any Windows platform, at least from XP and above. But it might be that it tries to load a module, that was not built into the MSI - but that's just an error in the log, FS should start just fine anyway. /Peter 2013/6/21 Albert Nguyen <albert_nguyen16@hotmail.com>

You can disable them in modules.conf.xml - those modules doesn't build by default on Windows (and I'm not sure they even build at all on Windows). Anyway - it's just info in the log, it doesn't cause any problems. If FreeSWITCH is running, I can't find another reason then a software/hardware firewall blocking the traffic. Maybe you have an antivirus with another firewall inside. Also, make sure that the Windows service for the firewall is not disabled - since that will block all traffic in 2008 R2. You can easily test the connection from another computer by telneting to the IP of the server on port 5060, it should let you connect. /Peter 2013/6/26 Albert Nguyen <albert_nguyen16@hotmail.com>

The most common problem is the built in Windows firewall that blocks the traffic.

Hi Peter,
How can I disable these? I couldn't find them in the modules.conf.xml

The most common problem is the built in Windows firewall that blocks the traffic.

Have you checked out some of the other things that may be blocking you? Are you running FS as a service? If so what service account, it heeds to be running as System. Also if you are running it from command prompt are you "Run as Administrator". It's impossible that disabling these modules would cause a crash - it's probably because of something totally different. If you can recreate the crash, please file a report on Jira about this. A crash is always a bug. 2013/6/26 Albert Nguyen <albert_nguyen16@hotmail.com>

Is the only problem that it reports loading errors for a couple of modules? FS should run just fine on any Windows platform, at least from XP and above.
But it might be that it tries to load a module, that was not built into the MSI - but that's just an error in the log, FS should start just fine anyway.
