That's a good question. I have not figured out how to open a CLI on FreeSWITCH. With asterisk you can do an asterisk -r but I have not figured out how to do this with fs. If anybody knows please post! -Andrew --- Simon Shaw <sshaw@interwise.com> wrote:

Maybe this is a newbie thing on my part, but after you built and ran trixswitch 0.4 how did you monitor what was going on inside. First thing I wanted to do after I installed was to run the "show dialplan" command - have I missed something obvious? ________________________________ From: freeswitch-users-bounces@lists.freeswitch.org on behalf of Raymond Chandler Sent: Wed 6/4/2008 12:20 AM To: freeswitch-users@lists.freeswitch.org Subject: Re: [Freeswitch-users] CLI on TrixSwitch 0.4 whoops, probably have to wait till 0.5 for that one ;-) Brian West wrote: scripts/socket/fs.pl Needs the FreeSWITCH::Client package in that directory installed. /b On Jun 3, 2008, at 4:08 PM, andrew wrote: That's a good question. Unfortunately there isn't an equivalent of "show dialplan" in FS. There is a show channels. In fact, if you connect to the CLI with the perl script mentioned below then you can just type "show" and you'll see all sorts of stuff that you can do. Another fun thing is to enable xml-rpc and then you can do web-based commands. I don't know how trixswitch handles the modules.conf.xml file, but you need to allow this line: <load module="mod_xml_rpc"/> (Remove the <!-- and --> tags) So stop fs, change modules.conf.xml and restart fs. Once you do that then you can browse to the built-in FS webserver! http://my.freeswitch.box:8080/webapi/show?channels The username and password to log in to the server are "freeswitch" and "works" respectively. ________________________________ From: freeswitch-users-bounces@lists.freeswitch.org [mailto:freeswitch-users-bounces@lists.freeswitch.org] On Behalf Of Simon Shaw Sent: Tuesday, June 03, 2008 4:04 PM To: freeswitch-users@lists.freeswitch.org Subject: RE: [Freeswitch-users] CLI on TrixSwitch 0.4 Maybe this is a newbie thing on my part, but after you built and ran trixswitch 0.4 how did you monitor what was going on inside. BTW, if you launch it from that directory it will find the fs::client package, but if you move that script to a more permanent place, like /usr/local/freeswitch/scripts then you'll need to make sure that fs::client stuff bkw mentioned is installed in your local Perl or is otherwise accessible to the script... -MC

cool thanks, I added and RPM for this, just do a yum install freeswitch-perl-client and it will install the perl client. It also install a small script called fsconsole So to answer the question of how to get a command prompt in trixswitch yum install freeswitch-perl-client fsconsole should do it! -Andrew --- Michael Collins <mcollins@fcnetwork.com> wrote:

We've been having various problems intercepting events using the Event_Socket mod where we found different events to be missing from time to time. This included events concerning call-control (CHANNEL_CREATE, CHANNEL_ANSWER, CHANNEL_HANGUP and CHANNEL_DESTROY) which were out biggest problem as we're trying to build a call-control engine on top of the FS. We later found this problem was restricted to events in XML format (i.e. event xml all) while PLAIN events (i.e. event plain all) seem to be working fine. To reproduce this it requires loading the FS to some extent, however we found a easily reproducible scenario in which you can see the difference: 1. Start a call to the conference room 3011 2. Wait until the call in answered and all prompts resumed 3. Initiate two event_socket interfaces (such as telnet/ssh to 8021) 4. Register on one for EVENT XML ALL 5. Register on the other EVENT PLAIN ALL 7. Hang up the call (and send NOEVENTS) This will reproduce a noticeable difference of at least 4 missing events in the XML events interface: CODEC, CHANNEL_EXECUTE_COMPLETE, PRESENCE_IN and most important CHANNEL_DESTROY I've posted both results on PB: Working PLAIN events: http://pastebin.freeswitch.org/4560 Inconsistent XML events: http://pastebin.freeswitch.org/4561 BTW, it's FreeSwitch Version 1.0.0 (8697) running on a Windows XP machine. These steps instruct how to manually reproduce these symptoms using a VoIP endpoint (IPPhone/SoftPhone) and a terminal (telnet/putty). In step 7 you physically put the phone down (on-hook). I recommended entering in the terminal "NOEVENTS" to stop receiving events so you can scroll up and compare the events. You understood me right. We ran the tests on several boxes over and over again and the results were conclusive - it's not a CPU/Memory/Machine issue. All tests were on a windows machines. I asked if you enter noevents before you hangup. Is the part you are saying i understood? The instant you type noevents you are turning off the event queue for that socket. That's why I am trying to clarify so we are on the same page. 1 nanosecond after FS gets that command you will never get another event unless you turn it back on. We ran the tests on several boxes over and over again and the results were conclusive – it's not a CPU/Memory/Machine issue. All tests were on a windows machines. We haven't tried on anything else.
I assume you tested it on a linux machine.
I guess if it's not replicating there, it must be a windows specific issue.

do you mean noevents before or after you hangup? cos noevents first would obviously kill the events before you ever saw them. I ask because I ran script in 2 shells telneted to 8021 on a box one
"events plain" and the other "events xml"
Then I called 3011 and hungup again and all the events were there in both.
Could this be a windows specific issue?

In step 7 you physically put the phone down (on-hook). I recommended entering in the terminal "NOEVENTS" to stop receiving events so you can scroll up and compare the events.
Obviously, these are not the steps made by the call-control engine which is fully automatic.
Sorry for that. I hope it's clearer now. Did that solve your confusion or am I the one confused?

Hang up the call (and send NOEVENTS)

That's a good question. I have not figured out how to open a CLI on FreeSWITCH. With asterisk you can do an asterisk -r but I have not figured out how to do this with fs. If anybody knows please post!

Here is an suggestion how it can work. Look at the unofficial "google shell" and other similar approaches. http://goosh.org/ http://code.google.com/p/web-shell/ http://hotwire-shell.org/ -E
