The API is a feature of the client. It'll continue to work for as long as you continue to use the older client version. What remains to be seen is whether they'll block older client versions from connecting.

Guys, does anyone have info about 'skype 2.0.0.72 static' which is used in skypopen module, will it survive the next month?
Is it possible that the API will be disabled in recent skype versions, but this version won't lose ability to communicate via API?

Thanks,
Arsen.
