Hi guys

Shadowym, I think you are overreacting about this. I started with FS using GIT, when rpm package where announced I decided to wait until the were more mature. You can not expect you will get a new feature or etc and it will work as you imagine at the first time.

You found some "issues" with rpm packages then your resolved by your self, so, why you make a more positive work and wikify it? Your complain is not helping this wonderful project.

I agree with AVI, if the rpm developers could include some sort of change log ("big/important changes") will be helpful for all. At the end, you are the only responsible for what you do, so, if you decided to try rpm packages and find it some differences respect GIT then don't  complain just inform about it in the best way possible what is wrong, so SwK could make the respective corrections, if they apply.

Which brings up another good point.  If such a drastic (imho) change is being made there should be some consideration for backwards compatibility and conformance to the documentation.  How hard would it have been to add symlinks?

A changelog can often be ignored. A "breaking changes" or "not backward compatible changes" log would be helpful for such things.

Huh, if those changes get tagged in GIT I think they automatically show up if you're paying attention when doing a pull.

Hi Everybody,

Just to be fare, is good to make FS more improved and standardised. It is better if in the wiki the devolper or someone involved with rpm update the wiki with a "change log", in this way everyone will know what is different. This will helpful more than you can expect for FS community.

Shadowym, if you have decided to use FS RPM, you should get more info about it and what to expect.

It is just my opinion

I believe there was an announcement on this mailing list alerting that the new rpms would be undergoing major changes to include moving the directory locations. Search this list for new threads started by SwK in the past 6 months.

There was indeed an announcement by SwK himself. It was as close to FNLoIP (Flashing Neon Lights over IP) as you can get.
