I've actually lost track of Asterisk performance so I am not sure what it is now and what it may be able to improve to.

I'd say It will probably have a bigger impact on stability than it does on performance. The SIP stack does account for some of the performance but you will still have the same RTP, transcoding and other components.

Asterisk 12 has added a new sip driver using pjsip. I remember reading about the discussion why FreeSWITCH chose to use sofia instead of other sip stacks, but I can't find it anymore.

So my question is, do you guys think Asterisk will be able to boost their performance by swapping out their sip core to use pjsip and be somewhat on par with FreeSWITCH performance wise?
