FreeSWITCH already outperforms the competition quite well, in terms of both speed & stability.  It even has a cool crash recovery feature, which was quite unheard of in the industry (AFAIK).  Has any statistic from any other softswitch come forward that shows that FREESWITCH team needs to look into the whole SIP stack?

I just read that, two licenses. So people who do not want to release their source code have to pay for the proprietary license.

I'd say It will probably have a bigger impact on stability than it does on performance.  The SIP stack does account for some of the performance but you will still have the same RTP, transcoding and other components.
