Lets be clear here. The 1.4 branch is currently only in maintenance mode and has a limited shelf life due to available resources in the FreeSWITCH Dev team.

If you are doing anything new 1.6/master is where you want to be.

Yes, 1.4.x is fully supported, bugfixes, security, and all.
