Given the tarball is 2+ times bigger than the previous 1.4 release and someone in the Chinese community said there’s .o files, I checked there are really .o files present in the tarball:

dujinfang@seven:/tmp/freeswitch-1.4.4$ find . -name "*.o" | wc -l
    1095

I have noticed when I downloaded FS 1.4.4 tar ball, that is comes with binary and intermetidate files already compiled.

It don't have bootstrap.sh - but rebootstrap.sh instead.

Should I use the tar ball or git clone? And if I should use git clone how I get a specific version such as 1.4.4

Thanks.
