Improving links that go to the old wiki
Hello, I was read the conference entry, and found out that the variables are pointed to the old wiki. I do not have permission to edit the documentation, with whom should I request permission for it ? Thanks, Ido
I think there should be a wiki page just for reporting bad links. When I converted pages (I think almost 200), some pages had many many links I converted. I did thorough testing but sometimes it took up to 3 tests to correct them all even though there is an external links status for each page. Anyway, there should be an easy and central way for readers to report bad links, this could be updated as links are fixed. If they use comments at the bottom of each page the problem is they stay there. It would be better to resolve and deleted the note. Ido, When moving pages to confluence, sometimes it's impossible to add the correct links as other pages hasn't been moved yet. Mario, yes we need a mechanism to track this and ideally if the community can help cleaning and reporting it will be great. I normally leave a note on the spreadsheet when some links need to be reviewed: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qsG-kRymvKlNBapnBLw86W130VdbnK6naYap... but this is not ideal for community to participate. +1 for a page to report bad links. What I did was when I converted a page I convetedt any linked pages, that’s why I wound up converting much more than I expected. Mario G On Oct 30, 2014, at 9:23 AM, Areski <areski@gmail.com> wrote:

They can open a Jira ticket under the Docs project, but there has to be a target for the corrected link. If there exists no page in Confluence there's nothing that can be done until it is moved. Bote

I doubt that will work well, I mean not many people will use it. But…. we are using computers…. can’t something scan all the pages looking for the old wiki and simply create a daily report that can be placed on the new wiki? At least that gets the majority of bad links and an updated report will let docs team know what links need to be fixed/converted. It’s amazing to me that this is not available someplace. I wrote translators that converted tens of millions of lines of programming code in different languages, they were far more complex than a wiki. This is one reason why its taking so long to convert the wiki. Mario G On Nov 1, 2014, at 10:49 AM, Bote Man <bote_radio@botecomm.com> wrote:

The spreadsheet is build scraping the old wiki using scrapy. https://github.com/areski/scrapy-wiki-freeswitch The same technique could be use to detect old links on FS Confluence. On Mon, Nov 3, 2014 at 1:50 AM, Mario G <mario_fs@mgtech.com> wrote:
