[Freeswitch-docs] mod_dptools strmicroepoch
I needed to be able to view the microsecond epoch, but was only able to find documentation for the regular "second" epoch, strepoch: https://freeswitch.org/confluence/display/FREESWITCH/mod_dptools%3A+strepoch Once I tested the strmicroepoch tool, I created the page for it under mod_dptools, with brief description and usage syntax here: https://freeswitch.org/confluence/display/FREESWITCH/mod_dptools%3A+strmicro... Please let me know if the explanation is sufficient or if there are any updates that need to be made to the page. I added a short dialplan example. @ALL: what is actually the correct title -- "mod_dptools: xxxx" or just "xxxx"? we need to remove inconsistency in child page names. On Tue, Jun 16, 2015 at 12:11 AM, Kristin King <kristin.king@quentustech.com> wrote:

Plus, the page tags or labels allow grouping separate from the page title. That is a very powerful tool. Bote

I am embarrassed to say that I started that transition from the complex page names to the simple, descriptive names. What you see is that incomplete effort. The general rule is that we should keep page titles short and simple. While special characters are permitted, they force Confluence to create page titles using the long numeric ID rather than the more recognizable plain text page titles. It seems like a small, nitpicky point, but simply seeing the actual page title in a link on the mailing list or on irc can give the user confidence of what he is clicking and is self-explanatory. That is one reason why I was simplifying those page titles. Of course, once I got into it I discovered that the page content in many cases needed some (or a LOT of) editing. You can't win :-( We do not need to adhere to the wiki way of doing things. If there is a better way in Confluence, by all means let's use it. Bote

The title forms the page URL. Confluence tracks links internally so if a page name changes, then Confluence updates links in the space pointing to it so that it does not become an orphan. By the way, Tools -> Page Information shows incoming links, among other things, so you can see how many other pages point to the current page. Bote

So, are we in charge of updating our own pages? Or is that a first-come-first-do thing? For mod_dptools, are we putting spaces in the names (like "play and get digits" and "bridge export") or making the page name the same as it would be in use (like "record_session" and "clear_digit_action")? I'd lean towards the latter personally. As long as the links are underlined the underscore is effectively invisible. J Anyway, it’s helpful to put in the underscore for searches, since the words “record” and “bridge” turn up everywhere, so narrowing it down by using “bridge_and_record_session” is a big help to users searching for such terms. It’s not a big deal about the page titles, just a helpful idea to keep in mind so we don’t get too crazy with the names like How To Use %%VARIABLES/users!!! and all that brouhaha.
