[Freeswitch-dev] Google Summer of Code
Hello! I was thinking about registering a project to Google Summer of Code, namely a predictive dialer (it is software used by call centers that minimizes idle time) and was wondering if there are any interested mentors? In that case, please let me know so that I can register this project, or maybe you have a better idea. Sincerely, Tobias
Hello Tobias, Does the world really need another predictive dialer in the open-source world that can be abused by yet another political campaign? If you really do need to do this please put some control in for the number of call per second so that the big iron in the PSTN doesn't fall over like it does every year near elections. (and please don't say its time to replace the big iron, its happening but it took 50+ years to build, and will take some time to replace it) -jrl On 01/03/2014 04:29 AM, Tobias Andersen wrote:

John has a good point. Also GSoC is a tough nut to crack. You'll need to come up with a project that is buzzworthy if the GOOG is going to consider it. We've tried many times to get a foot in the door and they never gave us the time of day. I'm sure a PD won't get their attention. Maybe there's a cool new VoIP-related technology that could be explored? Just a thought. -MC On Fri, Jan 3, 2014 at 7:33 AM, John Lodden <jrl@lodden.com> wrote:

Since its Google, I assume something with a strong WebRTC angle stands the best chance right now. Blending call centres with WebRTC should do nicely. :-) Regards, Steve On 01/08/2014 03:04 AM, Michael Collins wrote:

Since there is no way to get VoIP out of an iPad/iPhone wihtout requring user to install an app: WebRTC <--> FaceTime http://blog.krisk.org/2013/09/apples-new-facetime-sip-perspective.html I'd think GOOG would enjoy a good poke through Apple's ring-fence.
