<div dir="ltr">Just my 2 cents, when i had an issue like this on Ubuntu 12.04 64bit, it turned out to be a kernel issue, after updating my kernel the problem "magically" disappeared.<br></div><div class="gmail_extra">

I had same behaviour on my past Ubuntu installation and I found that I was using the latest GIT 1.5, not the stable release 1.4<br>
