an old thread that the ping in the gateway uses the option message, which is 
perfect, that means if the remote switch hardware is up but the sip is down, the 
ping via the option message puts the trunk out of service.&nbsp;&nbsp; Using 
continue on fail in the dial plan, it automatically selects the next route and 
the call goes thru, immediately, relatively no delay.&nbsp; THen when the 
gateway comes back up, it goes back in service as a result of responding to the 
options message, and traffic starts going back thru the prime route, works 
perfectly, I have tested this extensively.</FONT></DIV>

    <DIV dir=ltr>How about using a proxy server such as OpenSIPS? That would 
    give you much more flexibility and this sort of requirements are when you 
    would use a proxy server. Check out the drouting module for instance.
