I run Ubuntu on all my laptop and desktops but debian (and sometimes centos when the application I need requires it) on my servers. I have really fallen in love with debian in the last year or so... my introduction to linux was back in the red hat 4 days, so I naturally stuck with the red hat / fedora / centos distros, but after ubuntu on my laptops and desktops that helped in forcing me to learn the debian style operations. So in this last year I been running all my servers on debian and absolutely love how clean and fast they are in comparrison. It feels very lean and fast, so I think I became a fan :)

Paul

On Wed, 24 Jul, 2013 at 10:25 AM, Anthony Minessale <anthony.minessale@gmail.com> wrote:
If you also have a bleeding OS you will further complicate your world. I think ubuntu serves a good purpose to allow pre testing of what's coming down the pipe in a similar way to running the master branch of any one software. Just with ubuntu in many cases you are running the master branch of everything including the compiler and the libc and all the libs. I know there is a more hardened version of ubuntu that is more suitable for production but it really seems like its a more logical choice for a desktop OS.
