I think the mentioned announcement places like the conference call or mailing lists or Git/Fisheye a just a bit too hardcore for the more "casual" FreeSWITCH user like myself. I don't want to participate in a conference call every week or subscribe to a busy mailing list to find out about new releases. I need a place to go looking if/when I have the time (and need).

My suggestion is that the project creates some kind of clean download page (not cluttered with compilation instructions etc.) like most other open source projects (e.g. Firefox), where every visitor can immediately see the current release(s) (stable, beta, nightly) with a direct download link plus the release notes with a neat list of changes for each release (neat = short; not the full list of Git commits).

Also this list of changes (release notes, change log) is really important to persons like me. Of course one could dig into Git and diff the repository to find these changes. Again only viable for the hardcore users. Everybody else needs a compiled list of changes to assess a new release as the basis to decide whether to upgrade or not (what are the benefits, what are the risks).

What I’m trying to figure out, is how are people missing these announcements so we can address that, we don’t always post a latest release note to the website, as minor releases happen on a regular basis

I'm a FreeSWITCH user for about 6 months now. What still baffles me is how to find out about new FreeSWITCH releases. Some releases are posted on the FreeSWITCH homepage http://www.freeswitch.org/ (e.g. 1.2.9), but not all of them (e.g. 1.2.10). And even these posts don't contain any information about the updates/changes/bugfixes in the release. Google and wiki search didn't help either. So here's my questions:

- Where do you announce new FreeSWITCH releases? Neither the FreeSWITCH homepage nor the FreeSWITCH wiki nor the FreeSWITCH mailing lists seem to provide such announcements.

- Where can I find detailed release notes or change logs for each new FreeSWITCH release with a list of new features, bugfixes and other changes in that release? Neither the FreeSWITCH homepage nor the FreeSWITCH wiki nor the FreeSWITCH mailing lists nor the FreeSWITCH source code (ChangeLog still ends with 1.2.7 in 1.2.10) seem to provide such information.

Thanks a lot for any help,
