It has the default setting in it at the moment. And I am using 4 digits as this phone is for internal only. I wl give send and or pound a try. Thank you

I have heard about the dial plan and found it in the gui but I have not been successful in finding what it needs to be set to.
Dialplan sets how many digits device expects to be pressed before actually placing the call. You may configure it to set local numbers to be exactly 10 digits etc.
As Bob said try to press SEND or # key immediately after the phone number to see if it makes the difference.
