you can set channel variables that will trigger corresponding actions:

execute_on_answer
execute_on_media
execute_on_media_timeout
execute_on_pre_answer
execute_on_ring

they are well documented in the wiki.

In more complex cases, you can set up an event listener via an ESL
socket, and process the call state events at your wish.
