There are major changes to that module coming in 1.6, but I don't think any
of your issues are covered in those. You could test it out and if not, get
some jiras filed with the issues.
That being said, 1 is likely a vlc not a FreeSWITCH bug, you should test
under valgrind and possibly report this bug to vlc instead of us if they
are leaking.
2. I think vlc already has this feature.
