[Freeswitch-users] FS 1.6 and certs

"It's mandatory that you use valid certificates on this setup. If you're setting up your own CA we can't guarantee that it'll work and we can't help you"

Is it mandatory in FS1.6 to have certificates ? Or is it just saying that in case we use TLS then we need to have valid certs?
I don't really want to use TLS for my sip connections that are inside of a private network. I do have dtls termination though and have certs for them.
