[Freeswitch-users] javascript originate

Hello,

I'm still using the mod_spidermonkey module. Haven't upgraded to the new version with V8.
The wiki says the session.originate function is deprecated. Is there no way to originate a call using javascript?
The page also mentions:
api = freeswitch.API()
api:execute("originate", "sofia/gateway/mygateway/123456789 9664")

Should this be used instead?
