Hi Mike,

This new requirement prevents me from building in debian squeeze
(old-stable). I will upgrade to wheezy soon, but it would be nice to
still be able to build FS in squeeze.

I also added for osx to automatically look in the homebrew location for installing that library, as you will likely need to install homebrew openssl to build now.  Please let me know if you see any issues.
