Registrations are expiry based.

then how can I tell if his phone doesn't answer pings/shutdown?


The registration will timeout and you'll get the unregister event. It won't
be immediate.

To detect offline clients faster try the all-reg-options-ping
+ unregister-on-options-fail options.
