[Freeswitch-users] g729

The only issue with the current model is that there is no real easy way to manage the licenses, so if you buy 3 for your testing server and then decide you want to go to a production model you need to then purchase another set leaving your 3 original licenses dormant.

I think it would be a "nice to have" if we could somehow reissue licenses so when you retire an old server you can move your licenses to another server. Over the years I have purchased in excess of 100 channels and I think I am only using probably half of them as a bulk are linked against old servers that I have decommissioned. I think the patent owners of G729 get enough money for G729 without us giving them extra money when we already own licenses.

This is going back a few years, but Howler Technologies used to have a site based model where you could pool the licenses together and have multiple servers use the licenses, perhaps this is why they went out of business, I never really found out what happened there just one day my licenses expired!

Ash.

Is there a way to get g729 for free for testing purpose, or maybe a trial version. We will need the ability to make and receive calls on the sip clients from both internal and external callers. If the project goes into production we will buy the appropriate lic for it.
