[Freeswitch-users] Simulating v.23 modems

I know this might seem an odd request, but has anyone ever heard of a modem implementation in software for FreeSWITCH, it occurs to me that it must be possible to answer a call from a modem and decode the data from the RTP packets. 
I have a remote device that calls in to a v.23 modem, but I would like to find a more modern solution for answering that call that doesn't use old hardware.
