Pretty trivial to implement this with a couple of dial plan rules and a script to package up the recording, transcode 
optionally, and send it as an attachment.

You lose the ability to have a MWI though at that point. I've taken a slight variation on this - using email 
notifications to a web UI to be able to listen to the message, which still supports an MWI, but the message isn't 
directly attached (just a "Listen as WAV" and "Listen as MP3" link) which doesn't support maintaining the MWI status.

Users can also authenticate (using on-site SSO userid) and manage voicemail from a custom web page.
