Jay,

  We did some pretty extensive performance testing with the built in
Homer/HEP stuff in Kamailio and determined the call setup penalty was
negligible.  Not sure what that means for FreeSWITCH but it can be
done well.  Knowing FreeSWITCH it probably is.

The bandwidth, however, is no joke.  Our ops guy routinely complains
about how much bandwidth we're using just for SIP capture.
