[Freeswitch-users] receiving sms

mod_sms is destined to support SIMPLE messaging(and XMPP), which is part of
the SIP protocol stack. Which is something different than what you percieve
as messages. The short answer is : if your provider "converts" the sms
messages he receives into SIP SIMPLE messages, then you will receive them.
If he doesn't, you will need to handle the incoming SMS yourself with
either mod_gsmopen or just choose a service that would support incoming SMS
and send it to you on some sort of callback(clickatel.com comes off the top
of my head).
