Only one recommendation - don't do it :) At least not for a production system. The problem is usually the lack of accurate timers - and this exactly what you're experiencing here..

If you want to continue to run it virtually, there are a few basic things to check; first make sure you never share more cores to the virtual machines than you have in your physical hardware. Also use a separate NIC for the FS box. You must also make sure you don't have other overload issues, disk IO etc. This way you might be able to get it work "good enough", but in the long run nothing beats real hardware...

Yes, Windows Hyper-V w/1 core and 1 GB Ram.
Are there recommendations for running on a VM?
